Leonhard, of House Laiming, was the Prince-Bishop of Passau from 1424 until his death in 1451. He received a doctorate in canon law after studying in Vienna and Bologna. From 1400 he was a member of the clergy in the Diocese of Passau and the Archdiocese of Salzburg. As bishop he promoted reform in the Austrian part of the Passau bishopric.

The black king depicted above is from an Adoration scene in the prayer book of Emperor Frederick III. It was created between 1445 and 1455 in Vienna, Austria. The Archdiocese of Vienna was established in 1469 from parts of the Diocese of Passau and Archdiocese of Salzburg.
